Perfect.

Nina is obsessed with perfection. Low self esteem. Sensitive. Self destructive. (SPOILER ALERT)

Sweet girl.. (her overbearing mother calls her). Rigid! (Thomas Leroy constantly critiques). These are part of all the many though little but significant words and things that haunt her, that push her further, to insanity, to perfection.

It draws you in, right at the very start. In her dream, where she dances as the White Swan, captured by Rothbart. The fear! So fragile. Perfect for the character. On the train, where Nina set eyes on free spirited newcomer Lily, the girl she did not know would be her rival, an object of her later fantasies, the list goes on. The atmosphere had already gotten tense.

She is too uptight. Disciplined. Not as lusty and free as the Black Swan.

But that's just on the surface. A tight string breaks most easily. And that's what director Thomas Leroy saw in her the time she bites him. A glimpse of what she could be. He would bring out the dark side in her, let out the seductive side he wanted for the Black Swan. And there is Beth, the icon of perfection for Nina, whom she steals from, as though the things she stole would make her that much closer to perfection, but Beth turned out to be an alcoholic, and dark and melodramatic as Thomas Leroy had said.

As all these conflicts pile up, Nina goes further to ensure that she can achieve it. To embody two so different characters into one - the Swan Queen. Stealing Beth's things did not help, as is Thomas' sexual guidance, a mother who failed and is trying to achieve what she did not not through Nina, and Lily's ecstasy.

She cannot seduce. There is no passion. No liberation. That cannot be, not if she wants to be the Black Swan. Until the day of the show, the moment after she thought she killed Lily, she snaps. And that's when she let it all out. Liberated. She dances perfectly as the Black Swan, convinced that she is a swan, hallucinating that she had webbed feet and had grown out wings and all. Even when she realises she had stabbed herself instead of Lily before she ends the show, she vows to continue. The determination is shown all over. Hide the tears away, the show must continue. "Fine, I'm fine." That's what she says, to convince others, as well as herself.

Amazing.

The sound effects and music helped a lot to convey the struggle.

Forgive my rambling on Black Swan, I have too much to voice about it. It was a fascinating ride. Terrifying at times to watch, but still. Overall, I was captivated. Spellbound by this dark fantasy. It's been a while I haven't watched a great movie like this. Maybe I should try more psychological thrillers. Great to watch Natalie Portman.

So much talent, but in a distorted soul. Who yearns nothing but to be perfect and finally she did win the applause of the crowd, but at what cost?

Natalie Portman should really win an Oscar.
Did quite a bit of shopping lately.. It has become a sort of ritual before the exams.

This really cute ring I got at Bonita! It's perfect for the year of the Rabbit?? Love it. :D

Perfect flow. The most beautiful top I've ever bought, in fact. Perfect in all places. The sleeves, the buttons... :D

Nude colours - recent love. RM5, only at Elianto. :)

And I've bought my suspenders from Fourskin! Black was sold out, so I got brown. It's still fine.

Lastly, a book I'm reading currently. It's been a long time I've taken up a Chinese title.. but this time it's quite easy to go through, it being easy to understand and its really warming short stories.

Song of the day.

Found this while listening to trance radio online. Rafael Frost is awesome. This is something I've been looking for, got addicted the first time I heard it on Saturday's dance show.

Enstyle

A month or two ago I was invited to become one of the 200 leaders of this new Facebook fashion community. At first I thought it was just spam but then it was actually real! I've only started Lookbook and Chictopia a while ago just for fun, and my page views are to say the least, minimal. So I probably got picked out of luck.

Nevertheless I hope this will be good. :D

Here's the promo video for Enstyle, the page that lets members express their unique sense of style and get inspired by others. Enstyle aims to bring 500 million people to get to know it.

Check out their Facebook page.. CLICK HERE

P.S. I'm also in that video too. Try to spot me if you can! :p

V Day with Love ~

Hello lovelies. Did Cupid got you on V-day? ;p

I celebrated mine with an eating spree at KLCC.

First off, a plate of spaghetti marinara shared with ze boyfie at food court. Too much sauce but overall, pretty good. Meatballs are awesome! Oddly, I am reminded of Brittany from Glee nudging the meatballs on her plate in Breadstix alone. That's from yesterday's episode.

She was emulating The Lady and the Tramp. Anyone remember this cartoon?

Then, off to Dessert's Bar. Thought of browsing around first but spotted this cafe where I've always wanted to try out due to the lovely looking cakes they have on display. I'm also a big fan of desserts. So, a place for all kinds of dessert and it's supposed to be healthy? Oh la la.

Nutty cheesecake! I think it was one of the favourites recommended on the menu? It was scrumptious!

One bite is enough to make you addicted!

Chocolate banana crepe. I've had hard ones before, but this crepe is soft! I'm totally loving the taste.

After walking around admiring pretty but expensive clothes, finally settled down at Dome's cafe. Another round of eating. Well, I'm there mainly for the soup. Nothing else.

Random snap! It's a book about physics that sound impossible, but is actually possible. The first sentence was a quote from Albert Einstein, which me likey:
If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it

Crazy ideas can be achieved! O.O Be not trapped by the ordinariness of life and people around you.

The highly coveted wild mushroom soup. So far in my 16+ years of existence, the best mushroom soup I've ever had comes from Dome's Cafe.

He's smiling like a madman because he's bought a Michio Kaku book.

Finally... Outfit of the day ~

I look so tiny. GRRR.
Loving my Cotton On cropped top bought at last year's sales *they have amazing offers sometimes, can't wait for the next one!* and super cheapo tie dye maxi. Piled on an owl timepiece pendant and a vintage white ring that is a smaller version of Diva's large oval one.

I bought my first ever Nylon magazine today! Loving the articles and photos. Was attracted to it just because Leighton Meester was on it. Thought really, really long about the buy because it's quite expensive compared to local mags. But decided I should give it try since a lot of people hyped about its awesome styling and witty articles.

Song of the day. :)

Mama Monster has done it again! Don't be a drag be a queen. Well said *sang?*. ;p Love what she did at the Grammy's too. Arriving in a Hussein Chalayan egg? WHOA. She's definitely born for big things.

Holiday Villa, Cherating

OK, peeps. The long-awaited trip post.

The view at the beach is simply beautiful, that is, if you wake up early in the morning (note: as in 6am to 7.30am)

Sea creatures??

Hi there. He's been running around with the camera taking pictures.

At the turtle sanctuary. Behind me is a picture of a dugong, a.k.a sea cow/ mermaid.

Have you seen a real life turtle before? There are quite a lot here, from halfway hatching baby turtles to adult turtles. They collect the still hatching ones in small bottles. Whereas the older ones are put into the pond.

Taking pictures around 7.30 am where the sun's not shining that brightly. Bro says I look preggie. LOL

Don't be terrified. It's just me. With bedhead and terrible under eye circles. Plus, I can't open my eyes much under the hot sun. Which is at around 10.30 am, after breakfast.

Overall, a pretty nice trip. Perfect place to unwind and relax. :)

~*~ ~*~ ~*~
Last note. Song of the day.
Happiness. You know why this song is awesome? Because it has Deadmau5 working on the background music. This is just Brazil added with vocals. Kinda like Haley vs Deadmau5's Falling in Love with Brazil. Nevertheless, she's got a pretty good voice. I'm loving this song. Well, mostly because of Deadmau5 anyway. And to you people who have no idea who Deadmau5 is, he's an awesome producer/DJ. He's released a lot of tracks and has even appeared on Gossip Girl and MTV awards. Gosh, I can go on and on about dance music.

I love this guy.
